The City of Playford is developing a new state-of-the-art facility set to become the centre for soccer in northern Adelaide.

In May 2026, construction began on a greenfield site adjacent to Mark Oliphant College, within the growing Playford Alive development at Munno Para.

Munno Para Sportsground will be an important sporting space for Playford’s growing community, supporting athlete development, club growth and community use.

The facility will also become the new home of our historic Elizabeth Grove Soccer Club.

The Elizabeth Grove Soccer Club was named as the anchor club for this major sportsground after a robust tender process overseen by an independent panel and Football SA.

Ultimately, Elizabeth Grove Soccer Club's success on the field as well as their strong female participation led to them being announced as the tenants for this groundbreaking facility.

Elizabeth Grove is one of the oldest clubs in Playford, establishing in 1963 and currently based at Dauntsey Reserve.

Soccer has a long and proud history in Playford, with many of the city’s original clubs established by Elizabeth’s early UK migrant community. This strong tradition has continued through family participation and more recent migration from soccer dominant nations.

Today, Adelaide United’s official training base is located at the City of Playford Sports Precinct. Internationally successful footballers who began their journeys in Playford also continue to inspire the next generation of local talent.

Playford's participation in soccer more than doubles that of the state average. Growth projections tell us that by 2046, 25,500 more people will be involved in soccer.

This sportsground will bring the best playing facilities to our front door, so our community can perform, train and develop their skills in soccer locally without needing to travel out of Playford.

It will also create an important base for community soccer.

Munno Para Sportsground Stage 2, is in construction now and will include:

• A FIFA-quality synthetic main pitch featuring state-of-the-art 5G turf complete with – multi-layered drainage and a specialised shock-absorption pad designed to help reduce impact on players’ knees.
• Natural turf oval and synthetic pitch integrated with clubroom and core amenities including six unisex changerooms, a semi-commercial kitchen and a versatile function room
• Scoreboard and grandstand with seating spilling out from clubrooms and overlooking the main synthetic pitch
• Coaches' boxes, meeting room and umpire room
• LED lighting towers across pitch and oval
• Convenient onsite parking

Stage 2 is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.

Munno Para Sportsground is being delivered in three construction stages.

Completed in August 2025, Stage one has delivered the kiss-and-drop zone and associated car parking for the clubrooms.

Stage two is in construction now and will deliver the clubrooms and high-quality playing facilities.

Stage three is set to expand the precinct to support broader community use. This would include an additional synthetic soccer pitch (designed for seniors), a playground, pump track, hard surface walking trail and public toilets.
