Thrive

Be curious and continue to discover new things.

Learning new things regularly and challenging your mind will give you a sense of achievement, purpose and confidence.

Discover new things in our city or in your own home. Why not learn how to grow your own food, or learn a new skill?

Take opportunities to care for yourself and the world around you.

Don’t forget to give what you can. It can be as simple as your time, your expertise or something you have made or grown yourself.

Why not try some of these activities to help you thrive:

  • Learn how to cook something different with ingredients you have learned to grow
  • Join a local Men or Women’s shed
  • Take a trip to the Playford Library Services. Become a member, attend workshops and browse the borrowing collection – keep learning whilst discovering a new and exciting world of resources
  • Visit a local Little Book Library. Take a book or leave a book for others. Why not visit our little libraries located at The Precinct, outside the Elizabeth Rise Community Centre or inside John McVeity Centre.
  • Become a Playford Volunteer. Share your skills to help others to thrive and learn, or use it as an opportunity to learn a new skill yourself and connect with others
  • Help a neighbour with some odd jobs
  • Build a worm farm or compost system at home, or learn more about how to live sustainably through the Adelaide Sustainability Centre
  • Challenge yourself to produce less waste. Learn what you can recycle at NAWMA.
  • Give some produce from your garden to family, co-workers, friends or neighbours. Why not place it on your closest Grow Free Cart or connect with other growers through the Grow it Local community network.
  • Practice English conversation in a friendly, informal environment at one of the local community centres or school community hubs in our city.
