Elizabeth 70th Anniversary

This November, we mark 70 years since the town of Elizabeth was officially inaugurated on 16 November 1955 by Sir Thomas Playford.

Named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and developed as a planned satellite community in northern Adelaide, Elizabeth has grown into a vibrant region of innovation and community spirit.

We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and the people who’ve helped shape our city over the past seven decades. See below for what’s happening to commemorate the anniversary.
