- Science and family fun returns to Playford this July!
The Science Collective return to Playford with the 2025 Playford Science Fair — an exciting and educational day of science-fuelled discovery for families and curious minds of all ages!
The free event will be held on Sunday, 20 July 2025 at the Playford Civic Centre and the event promises a jam-packed program of hands-on experiences, fascinating demonstrations and live shows designed to ignite a love for science.
From building electric circuits and solving brain-teasing puzzles to meeting real-life scientists and animals, the Playford Science Fair has something for everyone.
Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty is delighted our community’s young people will have this opportunity to access activities which are crucial for developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, fostering curiosity and encourage exploration.
“Through providing free exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, we are not just helping to create future leaders in these fields but also ensuring all members of our community have the opportunity to engage with science-related fun!”
Event highlights include live science shows by SciFiBri, Professor Flint’s Adventures in Palaeontology and the all-female dinosaur-loving supergroup, The Ammonites.
There will also be astronomy adventures in SciWorld’s huge inflatable Starlab and individual virtual reality experiences with IgniteVR. Roboroos and SciWorld will offer come-and-try robotics activities and locally constructed Daleks will provide another level to the sci-fi vibe at the event.
There are also opportunities to gain insight into marine creatures and ocean education with the Marine Discovery Centre. Attendees can get an up-close experience with native animals thanks to Animals Anonymous, plus a host of extra activities to enjoy across the day.
The event is supported by the City of Playford and forms part of an ongoing commitment to community learning and accessible family events.
The action takes place over two sessions throughout the day and those wanting to participate need to register ahead of the event to avoid disappointment.
There are limited spots per session, so book your tickets now at www.thesciencecollective.com.
