Council calls on creatives to access SALA subsidies
Published 15 May 2024
Local creatives will have an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents, with the City of Playford offering rebates for the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival 2024.

SALA is Australia’s largest and most inclusive visual arts festival which takes place in galleries and non-traditional art spaces across SA annually during August.

This year, Council is calling on locals to share their creativity with the community, with eligible applicants able to access up to $495 in subsidies to support and promote registered artists or venues within the city.

Mayor Glenn Docherty said the grants are a fantastic way to uncover Playford’s creative potential.

“Playford is a creative community with plenty of budding talent looking for an opportunity to share their artistic flair with residents and visitors,” he said. “Through this rebate, we hope some of our unknown artists find the support they need to showcase their unique creations, all while utilising our city’s amazing venues to host exhibitions.”

Applications are open to both artists and potential SALA venues in Playford looking to get involved in the 2024 festival.

Applications close on 24 May 2024, with the subsidy available until the budget allocated is expended. To apply, applicants must be a resident living within Playford or an artist exhibiting inside the council area. Application forms are available at playford.sa.gov.au/grants.
