Elected Members Allowances

The Remuneration Tribunal of South Australia determine Mayor and Councillor allowances. Section 76(9) of the Local Governemnt Act provides for allowances to be adjusted on the first, second and third anniversaries of periodic elections to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The following allowances for City of Playford (Group 1 Council) reflect the first anniversary of the last periodic election (12 November 2011):

• The annual allowance for a Councillor is $17,923
• The annual allowance for a Councillor who is a Deputy Mayor, Deputy Chairperson or Presiding Member is 1.25 times the annual allowance for Councillors, being $22,404
• The annual allowance for the Mayor is 4 times the annual allowance for Councillors, being $71,692
