Elizabeth Park residents will be able to soak up the sun this spring, following the completion of a refurbished outdoor space at Gould Road Reserve.

Originally a grassed area, the Gould Road Reserve now hosts a play space, new pathways, a sheltered picnic area and new nature play elements.

Mayor Glenn Docherty encouraged the surrounding Elizabeth Park community to visit the newly upgraded park and to make the most of the new facilities.

“Council knows how much our community values connecting with one another in outdoor spaces, which is why we are committed to providing new and upgraded parks and reserves across the city,” said Mayor Docherty.

“This upgrade to Gould Road Reserve provides our community with an inviting rest spot, play space and BBQ area, where residents will be able to connect and enjoy the warmer weather outdoors.

“These new facilities, accompanied by the park’s beautiful established trees, have turned the reserve into a great little destination that we know will be popular with locals.”

As part of upgrading the reserve, Council engaged the community and asked what elements they would like to see in the area.

“When improving our facilities, it is important to listen to the needs and wants of the community,” said Mayor Docherty. “When we asked the community what should be featured at Gould Road Reserve, there was strong interest for including play equipment, nature play and shelter.

“It’s great to see these elements now in place and ready for the community to use.”

Gould Road Reserve is one of several key park upgrades taking place across the city including Peerless Road Reserve at Munno Para West and Pete Smith Reserve at Davoren Park.
