Driveways and Kerbs

Kerbs

Council is responsible for the maintenance of kerbs throughout the City of Playford. Individuals, contractors or organisations carrying out works on kerbs are required to notify Council in writing and wait for approval prior to works being conducted.

Following the works, the kerb is to be reinstated to a standard that is compliant to Council's specifications.

Stormwater Drainage

If you wish to cut your kerb to install a stormwater drainage outlet, you must submit an application and seek approval from the City of Playford. Before granting approval, we will conduct an inspection and ask that you clearly mark the location of the proposed kerb cut prior to the inspection.

Applications must be received by Council at least two weeks prior to kerb cutting being undertaken.

Damaged Kerbing

Each report of broken or damaged kerbing is individually inspected and assessed. Then it’s placed on a program of works based on their condition rating (including severity of damage).

If the damage is rated as minor, the request will be placed onto a register with works to be programmed as funding is made available.

Driveways

You must apply and seek approval from Council prior to the construction of a new or additional driveway, or to making an alteration to existing driveway access.

Before granting your approval, Council will conduct an inspection and ask that you clearly mark the location of the proposed driveway prior to this inspection. If approved, Council will cut the kerb or footpath to allow for the installation of the driveway. The cost of any works and ongoing maintenance will be the owner’s responsibility.

Applications must be received by Council at least six weeks prior to the required installation date of the driveway.

Driveway and Development

You don't need a separate driveway application if the driveway is indicated on plans that are lodged for approval through Council. However, if your driveway is not indicated on the approved plans, you will need to submit an application.
