Join us at 7.30pm on Saturday, 24 April for the Overnight Vigil opening ceremony.

Our Overnight Vigil is coordinated by local service groups including the Ridley District Scouts, St John Cadets, Playford District Girl Guides, Dalkeith CFS and Multi-National Pathfinders Club.

An opening ceremony marks the beginning of the Overnight Vigil where community groups guard the memorial, known as the cenotaph, overnight.

The opening ceremony commences at 7.30pm until 8pm and is hosted by City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty, the guard continues until the Dawn Service.

Please support our youth-focused community service groups for the opening ceremony at 7.30pm on Saturday, 24 April at the Cross of Remembrance Memorial, Smithfield Memorial Gardens, Anderson Walk, Smithfield

Gates open from 7pm, with entry via Anderson Walk. This is a fenced event.

Our Overnight Vigil is not ticketed, however for the health and safety of our community, and in line with SA Health advice attendance is capped at 999.

COVID Safe principals will be in place, with social-distancing, contact tracing and hygiene.

All attendees will be required to COVID SAfe check-in via QR code or paper records.

Pease note, this event is operating under an approved COVID-Safe Plan and is subject to the directions at the time of the event.

The City of Playford reserves the right to alter or cancel this event based on changes in COVID-19 restrictions from SA Health, SAPOL or the South Australian Government.
