- Upgraded Kalara Reserve ready for growing community
Kalara Reserve now features a purpose-built, centrally-located clubroom and changeroom facility to support the Andrews Farm Soccer & Community Club and the Andrews Farm Cricket Club.
The district-level facility brings together previously separated clubrooms and changerooms into one central, modern space — making it easier for clubs to manage multiple games, support growing participation, and improve access across the reserve’s three soccer pitches. The new changerooms open up greater opportunities to for the clubs to support female programs and participation.
The upgraded facilities provide improved amenities for players, volunteers and spectators, while also creating greater flexibility for community use. Clubs can now host events, meetings and post-game functions on site, helping strengthen connections both on and off the field.
Key features of the renewed Kalara Reserve include:
- Four changerooms and a dedicated umpires’ room
- Synthetic cricket pitch and three new practice nets
- Walk-in cool room, bar, upgraded kitchen and event facilities
- Flexible meeting and function spaces
- Alfresco seating area for spectators
- New car park
- Solar panels to reduce operational costs and environmental impact
The existing unsealed car park adjacent the original clubrooms will be sealed in the coming months now that the major upgrade works are complete.
With the new clubrooms now in place, Council planning is underway to repurpose the original facility into a dedicated community space, creating more opportunities for broader community access and use.
The project responds to priorities identified in the City of Playford’s Sports Facility Strategy, which called for shared-use, flexible infrastructure that supports co-tenancy and encourages broader community participation.
The $6M upgrade was jointly funded by:
- $3.6M from the City of Playford
- $1.4M from the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program
- $1M from the South Australian Government’s Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing
- A $40,000 contribution from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund

Kalara Reserve has served the community for decades, and this upgrade ensures it can continue to grow as our city grows. These new, modern facilities will create even more opportunities for people of all ages to participate in sport and community life.
This project is a great example of how Council is investing in community assets that support connection, wellbeing and active lifestyles. We know our city is growing rapidly, and with that comes increasing demand for quality sporting infrastructure. This investment gives our local clubs the space and support they need to grow and continue delivering strong programs for the community.
Kalara Reserve is home to the proud Andrew Farm Soccer Club and Andrews Farm Cricket Club, with passionate players, volunteers and supporters. This upgrade is about backing them and making sure they have the facilities they need to thrive, welcome new members, and create a great experience for everyone who steps onto the field or into the clubhouse.

At the 2022 State Election, I promised that the Malinasukas Labor Government would deliver $1 million towards this project, and I am proud that it has been delivered.
I made this commitment, because the current facilities were not fit for purpose. By providing this funding, we have ensured that the Andrews Farm Soccer & Community Club and the Andrews Farm Cricket Club can continue to cater for our growing community and provide opportunities to get involved in local sport.
Thank you to the Albanese Labor Government and the City of Playford for their investment in this project.
