Come along to One Tree Hill Community Day and enjoy a day of fun activities!

To celebrate the incredible transformation of McGilp Recreation Park, the community is invited to attend the One Tree Hill Community Day on Sunday, 28 September to explore, enjoy and make the most of this brand-new fantastic space.

The City of Playford has proudly transformed One Tree Hill’s only sport and recreation space into a modern and accessible welcoming hub for the whole community. Through our commitment to helping the community bring its long-term vision of improving McGilp Recreation Park to life, the space will now cater for a diverse range of sports and people.

Council’s transformation includes an oval extension, new changeroom facilities, resurfaced tennis courts, formalised parking, and enhanced spectator amenities such as seating — all designed to improve the experience for athletes and supporters alike.

The extended oval now features both full-sized senior and junior soccer pitches, enabling the One Tree Hill Soccer Club to host all home games at McGilp for the first time. This upgrade gives the club a true home ground, bringing all teams together and strengthening club culture.

New, modern and accessible changerooms are now available for the One Tree Hill Soccer Club, Tennis Club and Cricket Club, providing upgraded amenities that reflect the growing needs of local sport. Council has also refreshed the existing clubrooms, with new kitchen facilities, upgraded toilets, and a fresh coat of paint to improve the overall look and feel of the space.

To celebrate this achievement, in collaboration with the One Tree Hill Progress Association the City of Playford welcomes everyone to come along on Sunday, 28 September from 11am to 3pm.

McGilp Recreation Park will come alive with free family fun and entertainment, including a rock-climbing wall for the adventurous, interactive activity trail, farm animals for the little ones, vibrant school art exhibition, sizzling community BBQ, market stalls showcasing local talent, come-and-try sports sessions on the new facilities, Scouts outdoor activities, nature-based crafts and playgroup for mums and bubs.

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty is excited to see the community come together to embrace the upgraded facilities, connect with community and celebrate the latest improvement to the recreation park.

“This project has transformed One Tree Hill’s only sport and recreation space into a modern, accessible and welcoming hub for everyone,” Mayor Docherty said.

“By delivering these improvements, we have brought to life the community’s long-term vision for McGilp Recreation Park, creating a place that strengthens our sporting clubs, supports local participation and provides a venue the whole community can be proud of.”

“Investing in local sport and recreation facilities goes beyond bricks and mortar — it helps build healthier, more connected communities by creating spaces where people of all ages can come together, stay active, and feel a sense of pride in where they live.”

Food trucks will also be on site, including What the Croque Coffee and Toasties, OMG Donuts and Potato on a Stick. Market stalls Succulently Stitched, Indi GLO, Kathy's Plants, Hilltop Fresh Flower, Wildmoonstone Alchemy, Stitch 23 Designs, Kreativ Chaos, Karen’s Cuddly Creations, Goofy Danglers, Bekky’s Diamond Art, Azalea Professional will provide attendees with plenty of interesting items to browse through.

So, whether you're a seasoned player, a keen supporter, curious about getting involved, or a local resident eager to explore the magnificent new playground, the community day is a chance to discover how this revitalised space can become your own — a special place to have fun, thrive, and connect with others in the heart of One Tree Hill.
