Have you seen our new Mobile Library out and about?
We’ve got a new library truck, servicing communities right across the City of Playford.
Patrick O’Connell (pictured above), who ensures the wheels on the Mobile Library go round and round, said he’s enjoying driving the new truck.
“It has a lot more shelving than the old bus, so more books,” Patrick said.
“The technology is a lot easier to use…and it’s an automatic truck, which means it’s a lot easier to drive.”
The truck is also slightly shorter, so even though it holds more books, it’s easier to park, which means more opportunities for users to borrow books, DVDs, CDs and magazines.
Kindergartens, pre-schools, childcare centres and nursing homes all receive visits from the mobile library.
There is also a chairlift so that borrowers of all mobilities can access the library.
The Mobile Library receives 1000 customers a month and visits 41 sites per fortnight.
All residents can access the Mobile Library, as well as the Civic Centre and Stretton Centre libraries.
