The Shedley Theatre launches 2020 program set to enchant the north.

All eyes will be on the north, when top performers from around the country bring a dose of magic, music, comedy and dance to the newly upgraded Shedley Theatre at Elizabeth as part of its 2020 program.

The theatre which has been at the heart of the community for the past fifty-five years, has recently undergone a 100k upgrade, with the City of Playford installing a new lighting rig and sound equipment.

“Our theatre is now one of the most technologically-advanced performance venues in Adelaide.

“We want to ensure we enrich people’s experience within our theatre, for both those involved in the production and those watching it,” said Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty.

Local talent will be front and center with magician, mentalist and Australian Survivor contestant, Matt Tarrant, teaming up with hypnotist Isaac Lomman to perform Mindblown in May.

The world-class magician, is set to leave crowds spellbound, performing a mix of card tricks and mentalism on brave volunteers from the audience.

Fusing the power of hypnosis with hilarious routines, Isaac Lomman will create stars out of audience members, hypnotising volunteers on stage before giving them hilarious suggestions that their unconscious mind automatically follows.

“It is important we get behind local Adelaide talent. We have some amazing artists in our own backyard and each year we see more artists getting behind our theatre and putting on an increasingly diverse range of shows and experiences,” said Mayor Docherty.

Adelaide-based musician, Anthony Marafioti, will bring living legend Billy Joel to life when he teams up with John Kater in the Billy Joel & Paul McCartney Tribute Show.

Australian music legends will also be celebrated in November, with Helpmann Award winner Michael Griffiths and fellow SA talent, Amelia Ryan performing Livvy & Pete, a tribute to Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen.

Audiences can experience a once in a lifetime journey around the world in May, with Up, Up & Away, a riotous dance cabaret that takes viewers inside the tipsy mile-high shenanigans through spectacular dance numbers and captivating harmonies.

The sassy stewardesses will act as a live in-flight entertainment with enough razzle-dazzle from the Swing and Retro eras to keep audiences captivated on the unmissable musical journey.

In June, audiences are set to be enchanted by, The Paris Underground Cabaret, an astonishing variety show which brings together musicians, dancers, singers, circus performers and burlesque artists.

The performance will showcase breathtaking magic from Australia's most unique magicians, as well as a jaw-dropping aerial performance from dancer and circus artist, Hannah Trott.

Audiences will be enthralled by the unique skills of tap-dancer Monsieur Eden and the dangerously charming and risqué repartee of chanteuse Aurora Kurth. Cirque specialist, Tim Rutty will also show off his gravity defying skills, while show girl, Mimi Le Noir, will perform burlesque dance.

“Many people in our community have so many fond memories with our Shedley Theatre, whether they were part of a production, watching a loved one perform, or simply attending a show with friends.

“I think our community will be excited to see such a diverse showcase of high-profile and affordable events that promote our theatre’s reputation as being a leading performance arts venue in northern Adelaide,” said Mayor Docherty.

The Shedley Theatre is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Northern CBD on Playford Boulevard. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting www.theshedley.com.au or calling 8256 0500.
