New and upgraded equipment has made its way into parks and reserves across Playford, as Council continues its focus on improving outdoor spaces and facilities across the city.
From new soccer goals and Stebonheath Park and Winulta Reserve, to shade sails at Munno Para Town Park, Mayor Glenn Docherty said the improvements are part of Council’s
commitment to enhancing neighbourhoods through Playford.
“We know that spending time outdoors is paramount to our health and wellbeing and Council made a commitment through its 2022/23 budget to focus on improving and updating our parks and reserves,” he said.
“The more we can do to encourage people to get outdoors and be active, the better.”
To improve game play at local reserves, new goals have been fitted at Stebonhealth Park and Winulta Park at Munno Para. Seating upgrades have been made at Smith Creek, around new native planting areas along the linear pathway, and a new bench and slide completes the upgrade at Argent Street Reserve at Elizabeth Grove.
At Elizabeth Vale, Braemore Reserve now has a three-point basketball court and a nest swing to cater for older children.
“The Breamore Reserve upgrade focused on giving older children opportunities to get active and social in a positive way, and a basketball court is a great addition to this space”, said Mayor Docherty.
Shade sails have also been installed over the waterplay space at Munno Para Town Park, providing a sun-safe options for families to beat the summer heat. Shade sails are currently also being installed at Nolan Reserve, Munno Para.
“Council have also installed five new solar lighting systems along the loop path at Acacia Reserve, Munno Para West,” said Mayor Docherty. “The lights or motion-activated and will improve safety and accessibility for those wishing to travel through the reserve in the evening.”
Council will continue to improve outdoor spaces across the city in 2023, with new equipment for Taunton Crescent and Tareena Street Reserves at Craigmore the latest
projects to get underway.
“Council continue to work towards creating safe and welcoming environments for our residents in 2023 and look forward to even more works and upgrades in the coming months,” said Mayor Docherty.
