After almost 20 years volunteering with the City of Playford, Shirley Styles has hung up her hat - and in that time, she has worn many hats.
Since 1999, Shirley has been a familiar face amongst the Playford family, lending a hand as a volunteer across many areas.
“I had just retired and had been living in the Playford area for 55 years at that point, so I decided to volunteer for the Council,” Shirley said.
“I have worked in many areas since then, such as the Playford Alive Reference Group, Friends of the Library, Peachey Belt Reference Group, Celebration of Ability, Home Library Luncheon, Library Book Sales, Playford Community Fun Day and much more."
Shirley finished her volunteering experience with the Playford Library Service, where the staff loved her amazing energy and stories about her life in the UK and her family and grandchildren.
“Shirley’s energy and commitment was boundless…she volunteered Thursday mornings and will be missed by all at the Stretton Centre Library,” staff member Brooke Geelen said.
Now that she’s resigned from volunteering, Shirley’s going to be enjoying some of the great programs on offer at Playford’s Grenville Community Connections Hub.
