- Serving up change: new management and courts transform Playford Tennis Centre
The City of Playford is pleased to announce that Voyager Tennis has been selected as the new facility operators of the Playford Tennis Centre commencing 6 July 2026.
This transition marks a significant new phase for the Playford Tennis Centre, strengthening its role as a leading racquet sports facility in northern Adelaide and supporting the continued growth of racquet sports in the region.
The Playford Tennis Centre is a significant regional facility, featuring multiple courts and hosting major events such as the annual City of Playford Tennis International, attracting national and international players.
TennisGear has managed the facility since it opened in 2017 and in that time has achieved great success with highlights including the hosting of seven City of Playford Tennis International events and last year’s record breaking National Indigenous Tennis Carnival.
Voyager Tennis is an experienced national operator and this marks their first presence in South Australia, bringing proven expertise in facility management, coaching and program delivery, along with a commitment to ongoing investment in the Centre.
Through joint financial investment from Voyager Tennis and the City of Playford, the Playford Tennis Centre is evolving into a premier racquet sports hub in South Australia.
Last month marked the completion of the resurfacing of 14 tennis courts, alongside the conversion of two existing tennis courts into eight dedicated pickleball courts, which are now nearing completion. Works to install four padel courts will be instigated after Voyager Tennis’s commencement, with the City of Playford being one of the first Councils in South Australia to offer padel facilities.
When all works are complete, the Playford Tennis Centre will feature 26 courts, expanding the range of opportunities for participation and attracting new audiences to the Centre.
These upgrades help ensure the Playford Tennis Centre remains a high-quality sporting and recreation destination for the community, supporting increased participation across both tennis and pickleball.
The Playford Tennis Club remains central to the Centre, with members and users continuing to access and enjoy the facility and this transition provides a great opportunity for the club to diversify and increase their membership.

The Playford Tennis Centre continues to be regarded as one of the best tennis venues in the country. Playford Tennis Centre has played a key role in supporting players of all ages, abilities and aspirations, culminating annually in the City of Playford Tennis International, which just recently received its second award for delivery excellence from the International Tennis Federation.
Based on their successful history of operating major tennis venues, Voyager will undoubtedly drive even more year-round tennis participation at the Playford Tennis Centre. Further, Voyager will diversify their on-site offerings to include padel and pickleball, which aligns to Tennis SA’s position of supporting and growing the racquet category in its entirety.
Importantly, hosting state, national and international tennis tournaments along with expansive tennis programming will continue to be the core proposition of Voyager's operations at one of South Australia’s most important and iconic tennis venues.
