Virginia has put itself in the box seat for victory on the opening day of the Para Districts Cricket Association grade one match against finals candidates One Tree Hill on Saturday.

The Rams amassed 282 in an assault on the Billiegoats’ bowling in what was a rain-affected round of matches.

Despite the Rams’ attack, Jed Banwell did well to finish with 7/113.

At stumps, One Tree Hill was 0/4.

Central United is also in prime position after Brad Woodward smashed 111 (four boundaries and seven sixes) in his team’s 8/237.

The highlight of the innings was the 126 sixth-run partnership between Woodward and Rhys Kosonen (45).

Meanwhile, Salisbury West is 1/43 after dismissing ATCO for just 72.

Travis McIntyre (4/6) and Justin Davies (4/22) were the destroyers. Rain ended play early in that match. Other highlights:

In grade two, Dublin is 5/41 chasing Central United’s 70, while Daniel Stutley took 5/93 for Salisbury West as Riverside made 211.

Angle Vale’s Alan Carson hit 106* as his side defeated Salisbury West by six wickets in grade four.

Craigmore (189) enjoyed an easy victory over North Pines in grade six, dismissing it for 67. Jarrad Brennan made 55 batting at number nine for the Blues.
