South Australia’s standing on the global tennis stage has received a significant boost with the announcement that the City of Playford Tennis International will join the Australian Pro Tour calendar in 2018.

South Australia’s standing on the global tennis stage has received a significant boost with the announcement that the City of Playford Tennis International will join the Australian Pro Tour calendar in 2018.Tennis SA and Tennis Australia, in conjunction with the City of Playford, TennisGear and The Grove Tennis Club, will host South Australia’s newest addition to the ATP and ITF calendars from Saturday, 30 December, 2017, to Sunday, 7 January, 2018.

This free international tennis tournament is open to the public - keep your eye on Playford news for all the updates of the players and the program as they come to hand.

In a major coup for its organisers, the tournament will be the first Australian Pro Tour event held at the brand-new international-standard Playford City Tennis Centre.

The centre will play host to a combined USD$75,000 Men’s Challenger and USD$25,000 Women’s ITF Futures tournament, allowing the players to compete for a slice of the USD$100,000 total prize pool, as well as collect valuable world ranking points.

The field for the City of Playford Tennis International will be announced later this year.

There are some great opportunities for tennis-lovers to join the team for the City of Playford Tennis International.

Tennis SA is seeking enthusiastic, passionate and reliable volunteers to be a part of the event, taking on various roles in Player Services, Court Services, Transport Services and as Ball kids (ball kids aged 11 to17).

Volunteers

A volunteer information session will be held at the Playford City Tennis Centre, Spruance Road, Elizabeth East, on Wednesday, 29 November, at 6pm.

Come along to find out more about the tournament and the various opportunities available.

No volunteering or tennis experience necessary.

Please RSVP to Breanna Hassam by 5pm on Monday, 27 November.

Ball kids

Children 11 to 17 years of age are encouraged to register as a Ballkid for the tournament.

No experience necessary with training sessions to be held during December.
