It’s all action in the City of Playford as we continue to move forward with our CBD of the North project.

Work continues on a number of major projects that will improve local lifestyles and bring jobs to our community. ^^ Work continues on Prince George Plaza, with the Windsor Fountain now installed.

The activation of Prince George Plaza will be assisted by the proposed public buildings and retail eateries that will surround the new community focal point. With the assistance of Intrepid Property an ‘expression of interest’ process was recently conducted to test market interest in retail food outlets to be situated at the rear wall of Shedley Theatre and facing into the Plaza, with early signs very positive.

CBD: Hotel Concept

The Northern CBD development will include an upscale 4.5-star hotel (latest artist’s impression at left) that will have a commanding outlook on the new plaza and surrounding developments, including Fremont Park and the proposed Ice Arena. The hotel will provide accommodation for visitors to the City of Playford who are attending conferences, major sporting events and other activities within the CBD, Health and Sports Precincts. Council is in the process now of selecting a company to run the ‘expression of interest’ for this hotel.

New Playford Smart City website

A new website dedicated to supporting the development of the Playford Smart City is now live.

The website contains a wealth of easy to access data about our region and community through interactive maps which can be tailored to suit the needs of researchers and project developers. The site is also the go-to source for latest info on Playford’s NEXT Great City projects.

Well-established trees are also being installed around the Plaza, adding to the avenue of young trees recently planted along Playford Boulevard.

The opening is now locked in for Friday, 6 October. ^^ Timelapse video of progress at Prince George Plaza. Health Precinct: Healthia Initiative

ACH Group is seeking expressions of interest for allied health and other commercial operators to partner with them in a Restorative Health and Wellness Precinct to be located on the former Grove Tennis Club site at Oldham Road, Elizabeth South. This is another significant step forward in the development of Playford’s Health precinct vision. The ‘expression of interest’ process for the new development – which ACH will promote under the name ‘Healthia’ – closes on 31 August.
