The Playford Civic Centre precinct, along Playford Boulevard across the road from the Elizabeth City Centre, will be transformed into a magical wonderland, a royal palace with a bit of a twist, tonight and tomorrow only! RoyaltyIn its first year, the Playford Palace is promising to bring the northern Adelaide community a jam-packed Fringe program!Aussie comedy royalty, Dave Hughes, will headline the festival on Saturday 25 February at 6pm live in the Shedley Theatre. If you haven’t got tickets yet, don’t miss out – head to Fringe Tix online or visit the Shedley Box Office.But the antics start long before Hughesy arrives, with the official launch tonight with the palace gates opening at 4pm. This is followed by the official launch at 7pm with Latin dance crew - La Bomba, explosive cover band – Keep the Change and DJ Caroline Tucker getting the Fringe vibes rolling. Tribute musician, Greg Hart, also hits the Shedley stage at 8.30pm, taking on the legends of Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond and Roy Orbison. Partaaay!The royal garden party continues on Saturday with lots of music and acrobatics for the family to enjoy. Princes and Princesses can live out the pop music dreams – singing and dancing like Tay Tay and Bey Bey with Once Upon a Princess at 1pm on the main stage. And while we don’t encourage anyone to do this at home, be amazed by the Wheelies and CirKidz as they defy gravity, contort their bodies and tackle surprising feats for two performances at 2pm and again at 3pm within the Court.
Inside the Playford Civic Centre, head to the Digital Dungeon (AKA the Library) for all your smart-tech workshops and have a go at a virtual reality dome art experience or work with robots like you see in the movies.Ruby FridayIn the Ruby Room, you will be taken into a Bollywood movie set with belly dancing, Tamil drumming, Henna tattooing, plus much more from 1pm. And in the Great Hall you can’t miss the eye-catching, jaw-dropping pieces of Fringe art for The Lion and The Unicorn exhibition, which will officially be launched on Saturday at 5pm. There you can witness the coronation of the King, Queen, Northern Crown and Kaurna Shield Royal REVolution art competition winners. I can't get me no...The finale of the Playford Palace party will be none other than eight-piece, high-octane rock band, Satisfaction – the Stones show on the main stage from 7.30pm. Playford Palace promises the best fun you will experience in a live Rolling Stones tribute show, where satisfaction is guaranteed every time. Food for thought Amongst all the entertainment you don’t have to go anywhere for a bite to eat or to quench your thirst.
A royal feast will be on offer with an exquisite banquet from Abbots and Kinney, Beyond India, Aussie Ripper Roast and Yiros on the Run.
