Playford Arena gets green lightA $10 million State Government loan has given the green light to Playford’s long-awaited ice arena.

The $40 million international-standard multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility will host significant sporting events and concerts, including national and international championships in ice-hockey, figure-skating and rock-climbing.

The arena will also be a major concert venue attracting national and international entertainment and music acts.

Danny O’Connor, Western Sydney Local Health District CEO, addressed a packed forum at the SAHMRI Building in Adelaide last week, offering valuable insights into the development of Sydney’s Westmead Innovation District.

Jackie Hanson, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network CEO, and other speakers discussed the need for expansion of the City of Playford's Health Precinct around the north’s flagship hospital, the Lyell McEwin, into a high-tech Health Precinct featuring tertiary training, research, allied-health facilities and residential options, including ACH Group’s $80M ‘Healthia’ development.

Prince George Plaza retail tenancies New retail café and restaurant tenancies for Prince George Plaza are being designed.

These businesses will provide convenient indoor and al fresco café and dining options for people visiting the CBD for events, shopping or cultural activities in the Plaza and Shedley Theatre.

Construction is due to commence in mid-2018, with the retailers opening in early 2019. Carclew Road upgrade A major road in the City of Playford’s farming community is receiving a $2.3 million upgrade as part of Council’s Rural Road Sealing program.

Penfield Gardens’ Carclew Road was earmarked for sealing in the City of Playford’s 2017/18 Annual Business Plan.

Just north of Angle Vale Road, the lengthy thoroughfare is used by local agricultural and horticultural businesses.

The upgrade aligns with Council’s aims of stimulating local economic activity and is timely, with Marrone Fresh expanding its business operations in the area. Webster Reserve – community input A ‘Food and Fun in the Park’ community consultation event was held recently to seek input from residents and stakeholders into the design and planning of upgrades to Webster Reserve in Davoren Park.

Those attending were invited to get creative with ideas and those generated will assist in developing concept designs for further community comment.

Bowls club structure progresses Construction of the Playford Bowling Centre, the largest undercover bowls facility in the southern hemisphere, is well advanced, with its shade structure installed and the next stage, applying the covering material, beginning.

The state-of-the-art bowling surface substructure is on target for March completion.

Playford Bowling Club members are excited about moving into the facility, which builds on the growing Playford Sports Precinct’s reputation.
