Craigmore did its best to throw away a finals berth, while Parafield Gardens did just that in Para Districts grade one cricket on the weekend.

The Blues had Salisbury West on the ropes, having dismissed them for just 124 on the first day.

Resuming at 2/24, Craigmore was then dismissed for just 68, with Travis McIntyre taking 6/27.

That should have provided an opening for fifth-placed Parafield Gardens to move into the four, as it took on bottom-placed ATCO, who were defending 147.

After collapsing to 4/23 on the first day, the Gardens never really recovered and were dismissed for 133, giving ATCO a rare win and sabotaging their own finals hopes.

Virginia, which was defending 304, made light work of Central United, which was dismissed for 179 with Nathan Warren taking five wickets.

The Units batted a second time and were 2/66 at stumps.

In the final game, One Tree Hill, as expected, defeated Angle Vale – the margin 96 runs. Adam Smith took 6/55.

The Billiegoats had a second dig and plundered the Vale, scoring 3/131 off 12 overs (R. Cosgrove 60).

Salisbury West now takes on Craigmore in this weekend’s semi-final, while Virginia will play One Tree Hill in what should be a cracking match.
