Old Kalara clubrooms ready for new users

Expression of Interest closes 26 September!

Expressions of Interest are now open through the City of Playford’s Community Support and Grant Program – Building Spaces, offering the community an opportunity to access subsidised or no cost space at the original Kalara Reserve facility.

With the new clubrooms at Davoren Park now complete, Council is opening the doors of the former facilities to local organisations. The site will be revitalised as a dedicated community space, supporting growth and providing new opportunities.

The original building offers flexible spaces that could support a wide variety of community uses. From regular meetings, workshops and services to cultural activities, the facility has the potential to become a welcoming hub that reflects the diversity of Playford.

Facilities include a community hall, kitchenette, toilets, a storeroom and verandah, with shared parking and green space also available.

The Building Spaces Support category aims to ensure that services run from Council facilities remain contemporary, inclusive and responsive to community needs.

It also gives new and emerging organisations a chance to take the next step, establish a stronger presence and deliver positive outcomes for local people.

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the initiative is about helping local groups thrive and to provide new opportunities for organisations to cement their presence within the community.

“Kalara Reserve has always been a place where people come together. By opening the previous facility to new users, we’re giving local groups the opportunity to create something special for their members and the wider community,” Mayor Docherty said.

“When people have access to local spaces, they can deliver programs and services that make a real difference. We’re proud to support this growth, and I look forward to seeing it become a vibrant hub for our community.”

Applications close Friday, 26 September at 5pm and a Help Guide and FAQ sheet is available at playford.sa.gov.au/community/get-involved/grants-and-funding.

The Grants Officer is also available to answer questions, guide groups through the process and arrange site tours during business hours.

The original Kalara Reserve facility is located on Petherton Road, Davoren Park. For enquiries, please contact the Grants Officer at grants@playford.sa.gov.au or call (08) 8256 0230.
