A design has been released for a seven-storey, 260-room, 4.5 star luxury hotel to be constructed in the City of Playford’s northern CBD at Elizabeth.The design features:

gym/swimming pool;

function room; and

no poker machines.

The hotel, being built by a private developer, will provide high-standard accommodation for people visiting to attend business conferences, sporting events and other activities.City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the hotel plan is exciting much interest.“We’ve had a lot of buzz and positive expressions of interest from the market – local, interstate and overseas – and I’m pleased to see we have now signed a South Australian developer to build the new Playford City hotel in the heart of Elizabeth,” Mayor Docherty said. “This seven-storey hotel is a fantastic privately funded development for northern Adelaide.”

It is expected that 520 FTE jobs will be created due to the hotel development.

“The 4.5 star $50 million hotel will bring new jobs, much-needed quality accommodation and will be a striking building in our new CBD,” Mayor Docherty said.

“Overlooking our Federation Square-style Prince George Plaza, the hotel is perfectly located at our new CBD precinct right next to Playford Arena and Civic Centre and Shedley Theatre.”

The development is another step towards the transformation of the City of Playford.

“For our community, it is not just a hotel. It is a symbol of our future economic prosperity and the opportunities that it represents,” Mayor Docherty said.

“The City of Playford is undergoing a massive transformation – from Holden heartland to South Australia’s next great city.

“We are positioning our CBD as the service point for all northern parts of our State. This hotel, along with the Playford Arena, are significant milestones toward this path."
