Virginia's Shaun Lay outscores the opposition with a big dig.

Shaun Lay went bang as Virginia brought ATCO crashing back down to earth in Para Districts grade one cricket on Saturday.

Batting first in the limited overs contest, Virginia lost just two wickets as it compiled a massive 274.

Opening bat Lay hit an unbeaten 154, enjoying a 75-run partnership with Anthony Bascombe, then a 55-run stand with Ashley Nicholas (17) and 144 runs with Alex Leo (71 not out).

After his hat-trick heroics of the previous match, Dylan Childs took one of the two wickets to fall.

In reply, ATCO mustered 153 with Nathan Warren taking 5/23.

With Warren reducing ATCO to 5/11, Scott Keylock (71) and Matthew Lee (42) stabilised with a 100-run partnership, but the target proved too much for the rest of the order.

Between them, the other nine batsmen could muster just 27 runs.

Salisbury West’s 175 (T. McIntyre 51, B. Woodward 4/18) proved enough against Central United (B. Woodward 46), which fell 36 runs short. Leon Kent took 5/39 for Westies.

Angle Vale defeated Craigmore by five wickets, chasing down 178, and Parafield Gardens had a win over One Tree Hill. Other grades:

Ben Starr took 5/8 as Dublin dismissed Salisbury North for 60 in grade two.

Alex Ford (90) and Justin Millard (63 not out) shared a 123-run partnership as Rose & Crown defeated ATCO (M. Evans 84) in grade three.

Enfield United dismissed Craigmore for 88 in grade three, winning by six wickets.

Steven Lioulios took 5/17 in Virginia’s grade five loss to Salisbury North.

Salisbury West dismissed North Pines for 77 in grade six.

Steve Bing made 104 not out in North Pines’ grade seven win over Craigmore.
