Are you 16 to 25 with ambitions of being the next big thing on the radio? Well tune in, as we’ve got an opportunity for you.
^^ Being part of the Jibba Jabba program gives you a chance to test your talent on the airwaves. Photo: Rob McLean Jibba Jabba is a 12-week program that gives young people in the City of Playford and City of Salisbury a shot at radio stardom.
Through the program young people have the chance to run their own radio show on Salisbury-based community radio station PBAFM from 4:30pm to 5pm each Friday.
Blakeview’s Tom Aldred participated in Jibba Jabba this year in the hope that it is the first step towards achieving his life-long ambition of a career in broadcast.
“Jibba Jabba’s a great way to start and get lots of skills in radio and experience in broadcast,” Tom said.
“It’s been a great opportunity, especially for someone who’s had no experience in radio, and to get a foot in the door."
^^ Check out what the crew at Jibba Jabba get up to. Through Jibba Jabba, the students learn how a radio station works from the ground up.
It is a program that has served well, with current Triple J breakfast team announcers Ben and Liam having worn the headphones on Jibba Jabba in the past.
^^ Triple J breakfast announcers Ben & Liam started their careers in community radio, could you follow them on to the airwaves? Aspiring radio announcers should click HERE to get involved with Jibba Jabba, or phone 8406 8555 before Friday, 21 July.
