Local school children have contributed to plans to upgrade Fremont Park, which has been approved by the City of Playford.
The plans for Fremont Park feature in Stage Two of development at the north’s iconic recreation park and will be delivered in the 2018/19 financial year.
The project includes:
- Playspace upgrade
- All-abilities access
- New equipment, featuring a Holden theme
- In-ground trampolines
- New barbecues
- Increased shade
Most notably, the playground equipment design features elements from the ideas of local students, including nearby Elizabeth North Primary School, and has a Holden theme – honouring the Elizabeth community’s manufacturing history.
There will be a climbable structure designed in the style of a vintage Holden, while another piece of equipment is themed on the now-closed manufacturer’s factory line.
Meanwhile, extractor-themed talking tubes will also feature in the new playground, as well as steering spinning wheels.
Custom-painted seats will be a significant feature of the park’s furniture, the colours influenced by the livery of the iconic Sandman.
Projects such as this illustrate how the City of Playford is building SA’s Next Great City and bringing greater prosperity to our community.
