Tweenaged girls the world over are on tenterhooks awaiting news on whether the EJ12 series is set to continue. We have an answer for them, sort of. Celebrated Australian author Susannah McFarlane, who visited Munno Para Primary School recently to meet with super fan Emma Craig, provided an answer to the question on the future life of Emma Jacks, spy girl.

“There’s 21 EJ12 books and book 21 was the last one of EJ12,” McFarlane said. “I just haven’t worked out if she’s going to turn into EJ14 yet. “She will, but it might just be in your imagination, not mine.” The key message for the EJ12 Girl Hero series is helping young girls with their self-esteem at an age when studies have shown it can plummet. To further address the issue of tween self-esteem, the Melbourne-based McFarlane will soon be launching the Girl Hero Project, which is inspired by the benefits she has seen from parents and readers of the EJ series.
