It ‘tis the season to be jolly and this year’s Playford Community Carols will welcome in the festive period in fine spirit.
Held at the ever-green Fremont Park, the carols will bring all the best parts of Christmas together in the most joyful and triumphant way on Saturday, 3 December.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty welcomes everyone to attend the event, which kicks off at 3.30pm with kids’ pre-show entertainment, followed by the much-anticipated carols from 6.30pm.
With the event hosted by 7News identities Elspeth Hussey and Mark Mooney and sponsored by Playford Town Centre, Mayor Docherty said all the ingredients are in place for a successful start to the Christmas season.
“This is a great family night,” Mayor Docherty said.
“It’s always fantastic to see so many Playford families in attendance at the carols, enjoying a big night of fun and festivities.” Jam-packed
The evening, which is expected to attract 5000 people to Fremont Park, will be jam-packed with entertainment, including internationally renowned Adelaide-based act The Borderers, Boomstars for Kids, Ticklish Allsorts, Playford City Concert Band, Northern Light Theatre Company and local entertainer Katie Pomery, along with Playford International College Dancers and the High Spirit Harmony Choir.
With plenty of experience at entertaining the Christmas masses, The Borderers’ Jim Paterson said he was looking forward to taking the stage at this year’s Playford Community Carols.
“We love performing at the carols, because it’s such a family audience,” Paterson said.
“We like to get the kids singing and dancing and we bring them on stage, the kids are entertained and the parents love it.” A Christmas song by The BordererS.
Fun, frivolity, fireworksThe long-standing Playford event encourages the community to come together for a night of fun, frivolity and fireworks.
Of course, the highlight of the evening will be the arrival of Santa Claus, who will herald the start of the festive season.
As well as the on-stage entertainment, there will also be free face-painting, rides, tattoo artists and kids’ crafts, while the night will conclude with all the colour and sparkle of a fireworks display, brought to you by the Playford Shopping Centre.
The night is also a fundraiser for the Smith Family, with all donations from the Playford Community Carols going towards that charity.
