Programs for Young People

We offer some really great programs for young people - from DJ workshops at Northern Sound System, to mentoring programs that help you get your licence. Most are totally free and work around your school and study commitments. Below is just a taster of some programs, but for a full list you can download our PDF which has all the details of our programs, and who to contact if you want to get involved >> Programs for Youth 2017(219 kb)

Youth Advisory Committee: A group of local young people that share views and develop solutions to issues affecting young people's lives in the Playford community.

Girls to the Front: This is a group that loves to rock out. This crew meets Wednesdays 4-6pm during the school term and catch up to listen to rock, hardcore, punk and alternative with like mindeds or jam out in the studio at Northern Sound System.

N1 Records: This is a professional development program for emerging musicians aiming to get to the next level in the music industry. N1 Artists execute a project of their choice with the support of ArtsSA funding and NSS facilities and staff.

The Pier at the Rise: This is a young drop-in where people can hang out Tuesday afternoons to play video games, cook, get involved with art and craft and even play a game of table tennis.

Wheels in Motion: This program is all about building up those car hours so you can get your licence. We run it 5 days a week, however there is a cost involved. Download the PDF above for more info.

School Holiday Programs: We deliver these across all types of venues - the library, Northern Sound System, Elizabeth Rise. Just keep an eye on the City of Playford Facebook page for announcements.

What have young people planned for Playford?

Youth Plan 2011-2016

Young people play a significant part in our community - they are students, workers, volunteers, carers and peers. Our Youth Plan was created by young people, for young people. It focuses on the vision ‘Young people have the power to make what they want happen’.It outlines Council’s commitment to working in partnership with young people, youth services, schools and other key stakeholders.
