Playford Mobile Food Co-operative
The City of Playford has two Food Co-operative sites and a Mobile Food Co-op. The Mobile Food Co-op has been funded by the COAG (Council of Australian Governments) Healthy Communities Initiative.
Utilising a locally developed training package these services provide training in nutrition education, food handling / safety and retail / customer service. Participants will be encouraged to become Community Educators. The following services are also offered through these venues:
- Community education sessions including information and demonstrations on low cost nutritional meal preparation;
- Specialised cooking classes;
- Provision of pre-packed meal kits containing the ingredients and recipe for making economical and nutritional meals; and
- Household budgeting information sessions
Two Food Co-ops exist in Playford:
- Elizabeth Downs Shopping Centre
- Smithfield Plains Shopping Centre
