Analog TV is being switched off in the City of Playford on 2 April, 2013. To keep watching free-to-air television shows, you’ll need a set-top box or digital TV recorder to use with your analog TV, or a new TV with a built-in digital tuner.
The phase-out of analog television is expected to generate an influx of unwanted TVs. For residents with unwanted sets, the City of Playford offers a free disposal service through the NAWMA Resource Recovery Centre located on the corner of Peachey and Bellchambers Roads, Edinburgh North. Residents simply need to drop their unwanted sets at the Centre, for quick, easy and free disposal.
Televisions can also be disposed of at no cost through Council’s regular hard waste kerbside collection service. This is a suburb-by-suburb service booking service and together with the NAWMA Resource Centre, ensures that residents are able to dispose of electronic waste in a legal and environmentally responsible way.
For more information on the switch to digital TV visit www.digitalready.gov.au. For information on the City of Playford’s e-waste disposal services call customer care on 8256 0333.
