City Features

With approximately one fifth of the Playford area consisting of open space, Council invests significant resources to maintain and develop open space. A range of passive recreational reserves throughout the City, including Fremont Park, Jo Gapper Park and Stebonheath Park, as well as conservation areas including Para Wirra Recreational Park and Humbug Scrub Wildlife Sanctury further enhances the City.

 

The Regional Centre for the north offers major shopping facilities, major hospital and health services. Regency Institute of TAFE offers quality tertiary education and training programs for industry in the Playford area. There are a range of educational options with special focus public secondary schools and private schools available.

When the City of Playford was formed, brining the Elizabeth and Munno Para areas together, a new corporate image was needed. A community competition was held with 77 logo entries received. Residents provided over 700 comments on the logos and the design by Mark Carnell, a graphic design student at the Regency Institute of TAFE was chosen as Playford's new corporate image.

The use of Sir Thomas Playford's signature in the design further strengthens the naming of the City in his honour in recognition of the contribution he made to the development of the former Elizabeth and Munno Para areas.The green area represents the crops and green open space prominent throughout our City.
