A message from your Mayor

Protect our wildlife and ensure your cat doesn't stray.

Cats

The City of Playford's By-law limits cat ownership to two cats per property.

Ensure your cat is contained on your property so as not to cause a nuisance. Prevent your cat from destroying wildlife and breeding freely.

Cat Identification

Clearly identify your cat with a collar and tag containing the owner's name, address and phone number.

A cat collar with an identification tag can save your cat's life. Although legislation does not make it compulsory for you to identify your cat, if it is not wearing proper identification when off your property, it could be trapped and removed as a stray.

Nuisance/Feral cats

Residents may trap nuisance, feral and uninvited cats on their property. A trap may be hired from the City of playford for a $20.00 refundable deposit. If a cat is trapped and has no sign of identification it must be taken to the Animal Welfare League Shelter within 12 hours of its capture. If the cat has identification then it must be returmned to its owner or released immediately.
