The City of Playford recognises and acknowledges the important role arts and culture have in creating a vibrant and diverse community.
Cultural activities are an essential part of life in Playford and Council provides a variety of resources and programs to support the culture of our community. These include: the newly completed Northern Sound System youth focussed music hub, The Shedley Theatre and Function Centre, the Grenville Community Connections Hub, the Civic Centre Library and the Munno Para Library (designed with a youth focus), the Uleybury Museum as well as parks, recreation areas and sporting fields.
Playford also has many cultural organisations and artists directly involved in delivering arts and cultural services. These people contribute to the vitality and cultural life of our community. Developing a Cultural Strategy recognizes the valuable contribution of Playford's cultural organisations and Council acknowledges their involvement in shaping the fabric of our community.
With the assistance of the Playford Arts Community Team, Council staff and the community the Cultural Strategy has been developed in response to the cultural needs identified by residents. The strategies in the document may be implemented by council, other organisations, the community or through partnerships.
Through working together we can continue to build a vibrant and culturally rich community, creating opportunities and enhancing the many existing strengths and successes in our City.
