Local government plays a key role in achieving ecologically sustainable development (ESD), by bringing about a general change in mindset, leading by example and supporting community transition.

The City of Playford has a clear vision to become a community renowned for its natural heritage, open space and sustainable approach to development.

This vision is supported by our Environmental Care Goal Plan 2006-2011, which sets out Council's approach to ecologically sustainable development over the next five years.

This plan recognises the diversity of landscapes, land uses and built environment present within the Council area. This section of the website outlines the approaches, and some of the significant environmental projects being undertaken in Playford.
