Advocacy Plan

Advocacy Plan - Influence those in power

The primary purpose of the Advocacy Plan will be to influence those who hold governmental, political or economic power to implement public policies and projects to benefit the City of Playford residents and businesses.

As one of South Australia’s outer metropolitan interface councils, the City of Playford faces the unique challenges of balancing urban and rural areas, rapid growth, social disadvantage and high demand for services, therefore advocacy and influencing levels of government to meet the needs of the community is fundamental. Successful advocacy will result in either funding to implement services, projects or initiatives or a change in government policy for the overall benefit of the Playford community.

The Advocacy Plan will also be utilised as a decision making tool for the Council to determine their level of involvement and role in the delivery of the Playford Community Vision 2043 and identified gaps.  The Advocacy Plan and efforts should focus on our community’s priority issues, which are outlined in the Playford Community Vision and will have a 10-15 year horizon.

The Advocacy Plan will contain the following components:

  • Advocacy goal
  • Principles to be followed when developing advocacy actions and priorities
  • Overview of current policy contexts( federal, state and local levels)
  • High priority advocacy issues and actions identified through the Playford Community Plan process
  • Advocacy strategy and themes
  • Indicators and measures
